How to Save Money Everyday in Tough Times – Part 1
Posted: March 23rd, 2009 | Author: Mo2 | Filed under: Budgeting, Finance, Saving Money Tips | Tags: Budgeting, Finance, Investng, Payday loans, save money |Times are tough and we all really need to save money and budget. Even when times aren’t as bad this crisis that we’re currently experiencing should remind us as to how important it is to have reserve funds or a rainy day fund just in case something happens. I’m going to write a 5 part series with 2 tips per day, to give you some ideas to save money and I want you to keep track of how much you save and put this money away!
Tip #1 – Don’t Watch TV or reduce the number of channels you subscribe to
There’s a lot of junk of TV and you really don’t need 174 channels for entertainment. Cable companies are really good at making the deals seem really sweet by bundling different packages together so that it makes it seem like you’re saving a lot of money.
I want to think about this for a moment, do you really badly need all those channels, or for that matter, do you really watch TV at all? I’m someone that can survive without TV so it’s easy for me to say yes, but for some it might be a necessity. I guess when the playoff time comes around for any sport or if the World Cup or Olympics are on, a lot of us would like to be watching. The same goes for a drama series or soap operas for the ladies, we all have our reasons, but then again basic cable should cover those.
Tip #2 – Drink Water!
I’ve previously written about how coffee is a necessity for most, and it is for me as well. But the reality is, if you can drink more water at home and at work, you will save your health and a lot of money. A lot of workplaces have free purified water and you should definitely take advantage of this since bottled water can cost on average $1.50 to $2.00 a bottle. Obviously, if you have to buy bottled water you might want to reconsider this, but if you buy bottle water bulk you can still save a considerable amount of money in comparison to drink sodas or coffee.
Mo2 Thinks
Every little bit counts and if we were to keep track of how much money we spend on the little luxuries everyday we would probably be able to save a significant amount of money. Every time you buy something or sign up for something, ask yourself if it’s really necessary or if you have to have it right now. Even delaying a purchase can help you as you might be delaying some other purchase. Take care of your finances and it will definitely help you achieve other goals. Thanks for reading!
