Christian Lopez, One Generous Yankee Fan

Just a few days ago, there was a really sad story about a fan dying to catch a ball thrown by Josh Hamilton for his 6 year old son at a Rangers game. Today, Christian Lopez, a wonderful Yankee fan, passed up to a half a million dollars to give Derek Jeter his 3,000th hit baseball. And he didn’t want anything in return.

“Mr. Jeter deserved it.” were the words that came out of the 23 year old. I honestly didn’t think there such great people left. You hear such horrible news everyday and to have something like this come up is something else.

I hope great things happen for Mr. Lopez. He got 4 season tickets, 3 bats, 3 baseballs, and 2 jerseys all autographed by Derek Jeter. He got to meet Jeter too after the game which must have been a pretty cool experience too. He didn’t get money like most fans would have but I think he has opened a lot of doors for himself as someone that deserves respect and has great integrity.

He’ll most likely get calls from all sorts of talk shows too. Expect to see him on shows like Ellen, the late show David Letterman, and other shows. He might actually make some money to pay some of his student loans this way. I actually hope he gets a job upgrade too, he currently works as a cell phone salesman.

A lot of us grind through our 9-5 workdays just struggling to get by and then you have something like this happen.  Doesn’t it make you think about how we should be living our everyday lives?
